Over the past few years, the world has been rightfully preoccupied with viruses that spread from one individual to another. Despite its ability to exploit what we have in common, Covid-19 has in many ways driven us apart, isolated us, and left us only with a communion of fear and anxiety.

Recently, however, we’ve seen how the courage of one person — to do, in a sense, only what he is expected to do — has lead to outsize consequences on the world stage. In our discussion this week, Nicholas Gruen and I explore the ways in which Volodymyr Zelenskyy has animated the social body through a kind of faith — the faith that all of its parts can rely on one another.
